01Who we are
Ardent Limited is a company registered in England & Wales (no. 13xxxxxx). Our registered office and depot are in central Manchester. For the purposes of UK GDPR, we are a data controller for the personal data we collect through this website, our customer accounts, and our recruitment process. We are a data processor for telemetry and operational data we hold on behalf of council and contractor clients.
02What we collect
| Category | What |
|---|---|
| Account data | Name, role, work email, phone, employer, depot address. |
| Procurement data | Tender correspondence, signed framework agreements, audit-pack recipients. |
| Site data | Site location, job ticket reference, deployment dates, named operators. |
| Telemetry | Unit ID, battery, cycle state, tilt, queue presence. See §04. |
| Recruitment | CV, work samples, interview notes, references (with consent). |
| Web visit | IP address, user-agent, referrer, page path. See §08. |
03Why we collect it
We collect personal data on one of three lawful bases under UK GDPR:
- Contract– to deliver units, maintain them, and bill correctly. Account, procurement, and site data sit here.
- Legitimate interests– operating the fleet, supporting clients, and answering enquiries. Telemetry sits here, except where a client contracts us as processor (then it’s their basis, not ours).
- Consent– recruitment references, marketing emails, optional cookies.
04Telemetry and the road
The M1 is a connected instrument. It generates an event log of cycle decisions, sensor readings, and unit-state changes. This log does notidentify pedestrians, cyclists, or drivers – the radar produces a presence flag and a speed estimate, not a track or an image. We do not run cameras on the unit.
Telemetry is processed under the client’s contract for the duration of the deployment. After the contract ends, we retain a hashed audit copy for the period stated in §06; live telemetry is purged within 30 days.
05Sharing
We share data with:
- Sub-processors– Hetzner (UK/EU hosting), Stripe (billing), Google Workspace (mail), Linear (issue tracking). Full list at ardent.co/sub-processors.
- Clients– council and contractor accounts receive their own job’s telemetry by API.
- Authorities– on lawful request, e.g. National Highways incident review.
We do not sell personal data. We do not transfer personal data outside the UK or EEA except via Standard Contractual Clauses.
06Retention
| Category | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account & procurement | 7 years after end of contract |
| Live telemetry | 30 days |
| Audit pack (hashed) | 6 years |
| Recruitment (unsuccessful) | 12 months, then deleted |
| Recruitment (hired) | For duration of employment + 6 years |
| Web logs | 30 days |
07Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access your data; correct it; have it deleted (subject to legal retention); object to processing; request portability; and complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
We respond to requests within 30 days. Email privacy@ardent.co; we don’t ask for ID unless we have grounds to doubt your identity.
08Cookies
This site uses one cookie: a session ID for the live fleet view, set only when you visit /fleet. We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.
